It has been two weeks since re-opening after Covid-19 hit and caused us all to go into lock-down and it is fair to say we are so happy to be back and doing what we love and do best.
It has been far from easy preparing for the new guidelines imposed by the government especially as we didn’t really know what was going to be expected of us until a few days before opening. However, we have done it and are managing to get back into the swing of things, albeit with extra headgear and loads more hours.
The government have stated that stylists should wear a clear visor that covers the forehead, extends below the chin and wraps around the face. The visors are in addition to the usual PPE we use when carrying out treatments. In addition and after the new advice this week, we will be insisting on clients wearing face masks.
We also must not under estimate the most effective methods of preventing transmission of the virus, which is social distancing and regular hand washing. That is why we provide hand sanitiser and have reduced the number of clients in the salon at any one time.
We have compiled a list of some additional guidelines that we should make you all aware of.
Appointments will be pre-booked only so no walk-ins, including consultations and skin tests.
No refreshments serviced, please bring your own.
Please bring and wear a mask.
Please wash your hands as soon as you arrive.
No magazines will be provided so make sure your phones are charged.
If you have any symptoms or have been asked to self-isolate, please re-arrange your appointment.
We would like to say a special thank you to all our clients who have been patient and kind and remained loyal to us here at Trend.
As the situation hopefully improves we will update you on any changes and continue to keep up to date with any new guidelines.
We may be forgiven for thinking “crazy colours” are a thing of the past but with celebrities like Demi Lovato, Christina Aguilera and now Rita Ora showing off the funky but strangely sophisticated looking pastel dip-dye look, it seems that anyone can experiment with some amazing head turning colours.
Pastels seem to be the way forward instead of the strong, vibrant tones of the previous couple of years and with pastel Ombre allowing a more versatile approach to using these colours, it doesn’t matter what your skin tone is, we can all pull off this bank on Trend look.
I have noticed that this is a question asked on a regular basis.
“What are the best hair extensions?”
There isn’t a straight forward answer to this question im afraid but there are a few things that should be taken into consideration when choosing the right person to fit your extensions.
Hair is probably the most important thing that makes a woman feel confident so first and foremost you must check that the hair extensionist has got substantial qualifications and experience?
I believe that they should also be a qualified hairdresser as hair extensions are a specialist field and require a lot of basic hairdressing knowledge in order to give you the best results.
Check that they have got a nationally recognised qualification e.g NVQ or City & Guilds and ask to see insurance documents. You will be surprised how many people are working without insurance. We as hair specialists are providing a service and you have the right to make sure you are being looked after properly.
There are many hair extensionists out there that believe that fitting hair extensions is a great way to earn money. My motivation is not money, it is because I love making women feel great!
It has been taken directly from the donor’s head and preserved to ensure all the cuticles are healthy and facing in equal direction. It’s important for the cuticles to face the same direction to protect the hair shaft which will prevent tangling when becoming static.
Trend Hair extensions offer two types of Remy hair.Single-drawn and Double-drawn. The difference being that Single-drawn hair has been sourced from one donor and double drawn is made up from different sources enabling all the hairs to be the same length.
Although the Double-drawn hair is thicker and fuller from root to tip, the single drawn is an overall more consistent and natural look.
It all comes down to personal choice as to which type of Remy hair the client likes but rest assured both are a high quality grade of hair.
I said I would update you on the biggest trending hair style at Vfest. I was surprised to see less of the long flowing locks with hippie style plaits that we normally associate with festivals. Instead everywhere I looked there were buns! Neat, slicked back and pulled tight to the head.
In India, it is common for female college professors to wear their hair in a bun, in order to identify with their profession and in China double buns, called Ox Horns, are often seen when traditional attire is worn.
Although practical and smart, the bun is not really the most flattering for everyone. It normally suits, oval or round face shapes but it can be adapted in many different ways.
The current trend is sleek and neat, almost like the “ballet bun”but if you have a square face shape, or want something softer, maybe try a chignon. The word “chignon” comes from the French phrase “chignon du cou,” which means nape of the neck. Chignons are generally achieved by pinning the hair into a knot at the nape of the neck and by leaving some of the hair out and creating some soft curls around the front, this type of bun can be more versatile and suit most face shapes.
This very popular Trend has derived from dip-dye and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.
Judging by the amount of celebrities still wearing this look, I think it will still be going strong way into the autumn/winter months.
Jessica Alba, J-Lo and Mischa-Barton have all worn the ombre look and have shown the different variations that can be achieved.
If you think ombre is not for you, why not try it out by adding slightly lighter or golden tones to the ends of your hair, or if you dare, you can go for shocking colours or the very fashion-forward pastel’s.
The options are endless and I think that is why this diverse trend will be around for a little while yet.
Here is a natural sunkist ombre look that I created by using hair extensions. The blonde bonds were placed underneath the natural hair which meant my client didn’t have a single spot of bleach.
So whether it is texture and glamour or the shock and wow factor you are after, give it a go..its a look that is definitely on Trend for this summer..
The last few months have been a busy time for me. I recently completed my level III hair extensions course, launched my new web-site and re branded my company.
I’m really happy with the results and it was worth all the hard work.
The course I went on was totally inspiring and it has made me realise how important it is to keep up to date with current “Hair Trends” and changes within the hair and fashion industry.
Top fashion houses will determine what we all wear and how we have our hair months before we have any idea. I wonder where they get their inspiration from!
In Versace’s Autumn/Winter 2013 collection Donatella Versace presented a sexy punk feel with studs, tight fitted vinyl and staples. Here I decided to create my own punk hair style below:
The orange flashes of colour are hair extensions or additions as we like to call them now. They show that extensions don’t always have to be about long hair, they can be used to create interest to any hair style without having to bleach or colour your natural hair..
It’s great to experiment with hair extensions and try to do something a bit different 🙂
I am creating this blog to share my love of hair extensions, fashion, make-up and the idea that women should be given the opportunity to enhance their looks (if they so wish) in easy, affordable ways no matter what their age or little time they have. They should continue to make themselves look fabulous without being made to feel like they shouldn’t.
These days women way into their 50’s, 60’s and even 70’s and 80’s can still turn heads. Maybe this is a beauty they find within or the fact there are so many great products out there for all types, styles and ages of women.
My inspirations/idols are Victoria Beckham (39) (Amanda Holden (42), Joanna Lumley (67) and Honor Blackman (87) but are these women beautiful because of their looks or the way they carry themselves? Personally I think it is both but they all look fabulous! Not “for their age”………just fabulous!!!
I am a fully qualified and insured salon, at home, and mobile hair extensionist you can also just buy the hair extensions from my site if you are a extensionist yourself and need a good reliable supplier.
